I've tried pretty much every HDMI extender on amazon within the same price range for a one to many configuration over a managed switch (also being used for networking). This hdmi extender was running with almost no noticeable delay in my use case with very great quality video/audio (was running a PS4 in a separate room while having the controller direct conect to the PS4). The downside is I'm not sure what this device is doing but it can easily cause a broadcast storm on your network if your using those same switches for pass actual data. I ended up working around it by separating out the traffic into a separate vlan AND setting specifically removing that vlan on any trunk that did not need access to the vlan. Yes, this is best practice in a production network but this my home network and I wasn't expecting to setup switch trunk allow statements on my home network. Now I'm running ubinquiti switches so maybe its something to way they do switching vs others maybe cisco switches or real layer 3 switches would be able to handle the traffic better as I think it's something related to CPU utilization. Additionally, was not able to have a switch downstream of the main switch using a trunk as the picture would drop out.In conclusion for my use case using the same switch for data and remote hdmi I was able to get it to work eventually with some work (and it works better then pretty much any of the other ones I've tested for this use case). That being said, I have to image using a switch only for HDMI (which is the normal use case) would probably be amazing.Took a while to find a unit like this. It’s affordable, and gets the job done well. I love that it’s PoE so you don’t have to have a spare plug near the tv for the “wall wart” to plug into. And I love that the latency is so low. There is hardly any lag whatsoever. Some things to note though:Make sure you have this bad boy on a dedicated vlan only port or unmanaged switch because it uses every bit of 800-950 mbps of bandwidth. I thought I was going to be able to have it work like: Main switch -> trunk line-> 8 port switch -> single port vlan out to receiver, but any time a computer or something used any network traffic it was cutting the picture in and out. Luckily I had extra cat 6 ran from my server closet to each room I needed a receiver at.I have 5 HDMI sources plugged into a HDMI switch -> then HDMI out to Transmitter (or Encoder) -> network to PoE switch on a vlan -> 4 Receivers (or Decoders) on same Vlan via PoE and they all show at the same time. In the mix I have 2 4K TV’s and 2 1080p TV’s. In my case I had to click the EDID button on the receiver for a 1080p TV so that the format would work. The 4K TV’s scales the picture up good enough. Doing it the other way around will render the 1080p tvs blank.Used this to remote the 4K monitor on my Lorex NVR with 4K HDMI output. Initially had issues trying to get the boxes to connect to each other when I ran them through a PoE switch on their own VLAN. After trying a few times via the switch, I directly connected them to each other with a single CAT6 cable and using the supplied power adapters and they quickly linked up.I then moved them back to the PoE switch on an isolated VLAN and they were able to link up just fine. Has been reliable for the last few weeks with no hiccups.PRO TIP- You really should put these on their own dedicated ethernet cables to each box. Do not share the cable bandwidth with other computers, etc. Why? Because these boxes are using about 800 Mbps of bandwidth at 4K 30FPS. 1080p doesn't drop the bandwidth much (uses 650-700 Mbps).Excellent build quality, excellent video and audio with Dolby... I have several receivers... In garage, one for the pool area and guest room.. my sources comprise my old equipment hand me downs. So I have a fire tv, dvd player, and my security camera dvr connected to a 3 port HDMI switch connected to the sender unit (it can be anywhere in your house as long as you have a wired network connection). With this setup I can watch any of my sources from any receiver. fyi, you don't need to use a direct connect RJ45 cable, I run mine through my NETGEAR managed switch.. as long as you have the capability to set up a separate VLAN for these devices it will run on your existing network no problemWorks as it should. Had to switch around the boxes once because I had confused the receiver end so if you can't figure out why yours aren't working, try that. They work as intended and currently I have a speaker/microphone and a webcam hooked up to them.I've tried about a dozen different solutions that are supposed to do what this does. None of them worked right, constantly dropping signal. This one actually does the job, maybe a drop every once in a while or it would be 5 stars.I needed to extend a Logitech Webcam over a CAT6 wire, and I only have power at the sending (computer) side. This product is suppose to be the answer, but has proven to be unpredictable. When I power on the computer, the Logitech Webcam sometimes works, and other times the light on the front of the camera blinks. I verified the problem is not the camera because it works flawlessly when connected directly to the USB port on the computer.I had some 1080p HDMI to Ethernet adapters for bringing the video output from my security camera NVR (in the basement network closet) upstairs to my living room television. When the transmitter died, unexpectedly, I bought these units to replace the dead ones. I can see my 4K cameras so much clearer. The quality is amazing and there seems to be no latency or image ripping. Plus, if I need to pull video, I can plug-in a USB key right here, and not have to go to the basement. I might have to buy another just to play around with. Very happy with this product.
